Matchmove is a technique that allows the insertion of computer graphics into live-action footage with correct position, scale, orientation, and motion relative to the photographed objects in the shot. Match moving is sometimes confused with motion capture, which records the motion of objects, often human actors, rather than the camera. In Matchmove we are handling different types of tracking - Camera Tracking, Object Tracking and Rotomation, facial track, 2D track, stereo track based on the requirements.

Camera Tracking is primarily used to track the movement of a camera through a shot so that an identical virtual camera move can be reproduced in a 3D animation program. When new animated elements are composited back into the original live-action shot, they will appear in a perfectly matched perspective and therefore appear seamless.

Object Tracking - Technically, it is about Tracking a specific object rather than the entire scene, which makes it the inverse of Camera Tracking. Object tracking is the visual effect to use if you want to place an object on something moving in the scene.

Rotomation, also known as Body Tracking, is a technique of animating a 3D element on top of the tracked motion picture footage, frame by frame to match an actor or an object in a live-action plate. It goes hand in hand with matchmove. For example, we will match-move your real actor onto your plates if you need to replace your actors with a CG double or a beast.
